Homeless Housing & Rehabilitation (Current Project)
Renovation, re-tooling and repurposing of the old Sempra Energy building in downtown San Diego to help ease the homeless epidemic and provide rehabilitation services.
–– Homelessness is a major problem in our country due to the lack of affordable housing. Cities like San Diego appeal to the unhoused because of it’s temperate climate compared to other cities and chance for opportunity. Unfortunately basic housing is priced out-of-reach for a lot of people, especially these days. Costs have skyrocketed over the last few decades, leaving a lot of good people behind.
These situations bear a severe mental and physical toll on folks, so it’s important that people get the help they need with diagnosis and treatment, whether it be drug & alcohol treatment or mental health counseling. Career advisors and social workers should be available to help transition people into an eventual better livelihood.
Over the past year, our company has been working on a concept that would house up to 1,500 residents, providing a path off of the street and into a stable future by providing them a small suite with a bedroom, bathroom and small kitchen that would serve as an address for folks while they work towards brightening their future. We are currently in negotiations to purchase the old Sempra Building in downtown San Diego for this purpose.
This is a new project endeavor for us, so we’re in the process of finalizing our plans, but we intend to help our homeless Veterans here in San Diego County.
